USC's C.J. Gable gets Pac-10 honor

USC FOOTBALL

Gable is selected a co-special teams player of the week after a stellar game against Stanford that featured his 93-yard kickoff-return touchdown.

USC tailback Joe McKnight had big moments against Arizona State. Stafon Johnson shined against Arizona.

C.J. Gable took his turn in the Trojans' victory over Stanford and today was selected co-special teams player of the week in the Pacific 10 Conference.

Gable, a third-year sophomore from Sylmar, returned a second-quarter kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown. He also rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown in 14 carries as the Trojans amassed 282 yards on the ground in their 45-23 victory.

"We already know it's up to us," Gable said of the tailbacks corps after the game. "That's how we start everything."

Gable's touchdown return -- his first in 24 career kick returns -- tied the score, 17-17, and started the Trojans on their way to 35 unanswered points. Gable's longest return before Saturday went for 55 yards against Washington State in 2006.

Gable has run for a team-best 588 yards and seven touchdowns in 88 carries for the Trojans, who are No. 6 in the Bowl Championship Series standings.

USC has an open date this week. The Trojans play Notre Dame on Nov. 29.
