Sometimes it is hidden behind a cloth, but sometimes it is right out there in the open;

I think it is the color purple, but it is always crystal-clear, never cloudy;

It smells sweet and tastes good like a banana shake with a cherry on top;

It loves team sports, like soccer, because you have to rely on your teammates;

It is always welcome and it values honesty;

It lives with everyone who wants it and is friendly to all;

Its enemies are anger, fighting, lies, deceit, jealousy and hate;

It can build friendships, character and responsibility;

It is as strong as a magnetic force but fragile like an eggshell;

It is the hand that catches your fall; Trust makes everyone happy.

The Double Month

Jonathan, 9

Holy Angels School

Arcadia

There was a turkey named Jimmy. It was the week before Thanksgiving and he was nervous about the holiday. But he had a plan. The first thing he did was put earplugs in the farmer's ears as he slept. Then he got a marker and crossed out November on the top of the calendar. He wrote the word "October" instead. When the farmer woke up, he ate candy because he thought it was Halloween. "Oh, good! Now I have another month to make my survival plan!" thought Jimmy.

Glistening bright in the light, dangling on a gutter, just above my shutter, an icicle.

The Important Thing

About Our Country

Austin, second grade

Fairmont Private School

Tustin

The important thing about our country is that it has freedom. It has freedom because brave people fought for it. It is great because nobody tells you what to do and our colors are red, white and blue. Our country has very important people. But the important thing about our country is that it has freedom.
