Services planned for Ethel Bradley, widow of city's first black mayor

Funeral services for Ethel Bradley, the first lady of Los Angeles for 20 years as the wife of Tom Bradley, the city's first black mayor, will be held Dec. 5 at 1:30 p.m. at the First African Methodist Episcopal Church, 2270 S. Harvard Blvd.

A viewing will be held Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home, 3875 S. Crenshaw Blvd.

Bradley, 89, died of pneumonia Tuesday at Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center. Los Angeles' longest-reigning first lady, she was married for 57 years to Tom Bradley, who served as mayor from 1973 to 1993 and died in 1998.
