Ukrainian cargo: An article in Tuesday's Section A about the seizure of a ship by pirates off Somalia referred to the military tanks on board as Russian-made. The tanks came from Ukraine. It is still unclear where in the former Soviet Union they were built.

SEC chairman: Articles in Section A on Sept. 19 and 20 about the financial rescue plan said the president could not fire the chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission. The statute governing the SEC does not explicitly give the president the authority to fire the commission's members. However, federal courts have held that the president can remove members of independent commissions like the SEC "for cause," including "inefficiency, neglect of duty or malfeasance in office." The president can also demote the chairman of the SEC without removing him or her from the commission.

Steve Fossett: A photograph on Thursday's front page showing $100 bills and a pilot's license that apparently belonged to billionaire Steve Fossett was credited to Rob Meyers, Discovery Channel. It should have been credited to Michael Slee, Discovery Channel / LMNO Productions. In addition, Thursday's article about the found items said that video executive Eric Schotz had visited the site near Mammoth Lakes where the find was made. Schotz's video crew from LMNO Productions was at the site, but not Schotz.

Beverly Hilton: An article in Wednesday's California section about the Beverly Hilton's proposed expansion described the Beverly Hills Courier as a weekly paper. It is published twice a week. In addition, the article said Les Bronte, a former Beverly Hills mayor, was helping the Hilton with community outreach; it should have made clear that the Hilton is paying Bronte for his work.

Touch screens: An article in Wednesday's Business section about touch screens in cellphones said T-Mobile's G1 phone would hit the market Oct. 23. It goes on sale Oct. 22.

Encamp, Andorra: In a Sept. 28 Travel section article about the small countries of Europe, a town in Andorra was called Encampin. It is Encamp.
