Redskins…23 Eagles…17
Portis runs for 145 yards in 23-17 victory which gives Washington another road win against an NFC East opponent.
PHILADELPHIA – Clinton Portis ran for 145 yards and one touchdown, wide receiver Antwaan Randle El threw a touchdown pass and the Washington Redskins beat the Philadelphia Eagles, 23-17.
Washington (4-1) has now played all three of its NFC East rivals on the road, and its next three opponents – Cleveland, Detroit and St. Louis – entered this week with a combined record of 1-10.
DeSean Jackson had a 68-yard punt return for a score, but the Eagles’ offense bogged down. Brian Westbrook, back after an ankle injury, had only 84 total yards.
“I was embarrassed the last two weeks,” quarterback Donovan McNabb said of the Eagles (2-3).
Quoteworthy: “I think the NFL was trying to throw us to the fire, to get rid of the ‘Skins out of this division.” – Clinton Portis, Redskins running back, on the team’s tough schedule so far
