UCLA will try to reverse a trend in Oregon
UCLA FOOTBALL
The Bruins haven't exactly been road warriors in the past decade; they've won only three of their past 12 conference games away from home.
Victories away from the Rose Bowl have been hard to come by for the UCLA football team in recent years.
The Bruins have a 19-30 record on the road in the last nine seasons, with the trend growing worse. They have won only three of their last 12 away games heading into Saturday's matchup against Oregon in Eugene.
That includes a 59-0 drubbing at the hands of Brigham Young this season. It is a problem that first-year Coach Rick Neuheisel felt he needed to address with the team.
"It has already come up," Neuheisel said. "For our guys to get where we want to go, we have to be a better team on the road. We've already had a meeting with the team. We have to play better than we did in Utah, there is no question about that."
Craftiness
Neuheisel was again pleased with the effort of quarterback Kevin Craft, who did not turn the ball over and threw two touchdown passes in the 28-3 victory over Washington State. Craft has not had a pass intercepted in the last three games.
"He seems to be getting better and getting comfortable," Neuheisel said. "Now we need him to continue progressing through the reads. The only thing that stood out on the game tape was he stared sometimes. He needs to keep moving along from the first to second to third reads."
Craft completed 23 of 36 passes for 225 yards against Washington State, and his 106.3 efficiency rating ranks 10th in the Pacific 10 Conference.
