Firefighters gain on forest fire

October 17, 2008|Christian Berthelsen

A small brush fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon in the Cleveland National Forest near Yorba Linda was almost fully contained Thursday.

The fire grew to 20 acres but never threatened any homes; the only structures in the area are an unmanned communications facility and a tower.

Brian Harris, a spokesman for the U.S. Forest Service said three 20-person crews were working on containment lines and two helicopters were dropping water.

There is still no indication of how the fire started.
