* at No. 19 South Florida 45, Syracuse 13: Quarterback Matt Grothe threw three touchdown passes and ran for another score, and the Bulls (6-1, 1-1) routed the Orange (1-6, 0-3) at Tampa. Grothe, who was also the team's leading rusher, with 72 yards, finished 19 for 26 for 255 yards. His second touchdown pass in the third quarter was the 40th of his career.

* No. 23 Pittsburgh 42, at Navy 21: LeSean McCoy rushed for three touchdowns and had 156 yards to help the Panthers (5-1) roll up 501 yards in offense to defeat the Midshipmen (4-3) at Annapolis, Md. McCoy, a sophomore, now has 10 100-yard rushing games in his short career.

* at Rutgers 12, Connecticut 10: Kordell Young rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown and kicker Tony Ciaravino's 42-yard field-goal attempt hit the right upright with 1:09 left as the Scarlet Knights (2-5, 1-2) held off the Huskies (5-2, 1-1) at Piscataway, N.J.

* at Louisville 42, Middle Tennessee 23: Brock Bolen's three rushing touchdowns helped lead the Cardinals (4-2) over the Blue Raiders (2-5) at Louisville, Ky.
