Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson
MY FAVORITE WEEKEND
How a pop music giant has fun, fun, fun.
His bushy, bushy blond hair is steel-gray, but Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson's passion for Southern California burns as brightly as ever. His latest love letter to the region is the CD "That Lucky Old Sun," which revisits familiar themes through a prism of maturity. Wilson's sun-kissed image runs so deep, it's hard to imagine him living elsewhere. (He resides in Beverly Hills with wife, Melinda, and their three children.) But he said if he had to pull up stakes, there wouldn't be a palm tree in sight at his new locale: London. Go figure.
VEGA-TABLES
For good American food, it would be the Beverly Glen Deli, which is five minutes from my house. My favorite thing there is the vegetables and the salmon. Nothing fancy inside, just a deli; you go there for the food.
I CAN HEAR MUSIC
I also like Mexican food, and my favorite restaurant is El Coyote. They have live entertainment. I'd probably just order the tacos.
SURFER'S GRILL
Another of my favorite California-type places is the Grill in Beverly Hills. It has the best salmon salad you've ever had. They also have great spaghetti.
WOULDN'T IT BE NICE
For a romantic dinner, I'd go to Arnie Morton's steakhouse. Very dim lighting, and they play Frank Sinatra records.
I GET AROUND
On a Saturday afternoon, I'll get a lot of exercise and be with the kids, maybe go for a walk. I get most of my exercise nowadays by walking. One of my favorite places for a little hike is Holmby Park. I'll also play the TiVo a lot too on Saturdays. Every once in a while, we'll all go to Disneyland or maybe just the movies.
