Man, 85, held in shooting of driver

Victim says the suspect yelled at him and then shot him for parking too close to the suspect's motor home.

An 85-year-old man who was allegedly irritated by people parking near his motor home in rural Riverside County is accused of shooting the leg of a motorist who unknowingly parked too close, authorities said.

George Morris was arrested early Saturday morning after an unidentified victim told authorities that his vehicle broke down on Salter Road in Perris. Morris allegedly yelled at the man and fired one shot and struck him, according to Riverside County Sheriff's Deputy Craig Roberts.

When deputies arrived at 4:23 a.m., they found Morris barricaded in his motor home. A SWAT team was used to negotiate his exit, which eventually occurred peacefully, Roberts said.

Morris was arrested and held on $1 million bail. The condition of the victim was unknown, Roberts said.
