No. 17 South Florida 31, at Central Florida 24: Matt Grothe threw for 346 yards and three touchdowns, including a 25-yarder to Taurus Johnson in overtime at Orlando in the final scheduled meeting between the rivals whose campuses are barely 100 miles apart.

Connecticut 12, at Temple 9: Donald Brown rushed for 214 yards on a rain-soaked field at Philadelphia and had the winning touchdown in overtime for the Huskies (2-0), denying the Owls (1-1) their first 2-0 start since 1981.

at Louisville 51, Tennessee Tech 10: Hunter Cantwell threw for 203 yards and two touchdowns at Louisville, Ky.

Akron 42, at Syracuse 28: Chris Jacquemain threw three touchdown passes, including a 12-yarder to Andre Jones midway through the fourth quarter to break a tie, and the Zips held off the Orange at Syracuse, N.Y.

at Pittsburgh 27, Buffalo 16: LeSean McCoy scored on three short runs and Pittsburgh avoided losing at home to a Mid-American Conference school for the second week in a row. The Panthers lost to Bowling Green last week.
