The suspense, sort of, continues.
Ohio State Coach Jim Tressel would not officially say that star junior tailback Chris "Beanie" Wells would play against USC on Saturday -- but it sure sounds as if he will.
"You know what, based on what I saw yesterday, he was running well," Tressel said during today's Big Ten coaches conference call. "I think the key will be how well he is able to practice here in the back half of the week. Sometimes when you're coming off an injury a little soreness takes over. I'll be anxious to see how much soreness he has after yesterday's workout, but I was encouraged."
Wells injured his right foot in the Buckeyes' season-opening win against Youngstown State and sat out last Saturday's too-close-for-comfort home victory against Ohio.
Wells rushed for 1,609 yards and 15 touchdowns last season in helping Ohio State to its second consecutive Bowl Championship Series national title game.
