Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel takes lead in Heisman poll

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

Florida quarterback Tim Tebow comes in at No. 2 in the latest Heismanpundit.com/Orlando Sentinel rankings. Georgia sophomore running back Knowshon Moreno is listed as third.

Missouri senior quarterback Chase Daniel has surged into the lead in the latest Heismanpundit.com/Orlando Sentinel Heisman Poll, a weekly survey consisting of 10 Heisman-voting members of the college football media.

Daniel (42 points, four first-place votes) moved ahead of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow (38 points, five first-place votes), the returning Heisman winner who had led the first two polls of the year. So far this season, Daniel has thrown for 568 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 68% of his passes. Missouri -- currently ranked sixth -- has scored 52 points in each of its two games.

Despite Tebow's slight drop in the poll, voters remained impressed by his play.

"Tebow continues to find ways to carry that offense," said one voter. "Miami got a ton of pressure on him, but he was so strong and resilient, he shrugged it all off and won the game for UF. The guy is amazing."

Georgia sophomore running back Knowshon Moreno (23 points) was third in the poll, followed by Oklahoma sophomore quarterback Sam Bradford (12 points) and USC junior quarterback Mark Sanchez (11 points, one first-place vote).

New entries in the poll this week include California running back Jahvid Best, East Carolina quarterback Patrick Pinkney and Ball State wide receiver Dante Love.
