Shia LaBeouf won't be charged with drunk driving

Prosecutors say there's not enough evidence to charge him, but because he refused a blood-alcohol test, the DMV will suspend his driver's license.

Citing insufficient evidence, prosecutors said today they will not charge actor Shia LaBeouf with drunk driving in connection with a car accident this summer in West Hollywood.

Two other people involved in the July 26 accident with LaBeouf will face unspecified charges that will be announced Friday, said Jane Robison, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore noted that because LaBeouf refused a blood-alcohol test, the Department of Motor Vehicles would automatically suspend his license for six to nine months. LaBeouf's hearing was scheduled for Friday.

The 22-year-old "Indiana Jones" actor was arrested on drunk driving charges after the early-morning accident at the corner of La Brea and Fountain avenues. It left him and two others injured.

Sheriff's officials had suggested after the accident that another driver may have run a red light, hitting LaBeouf's truck. That driver was cited at the scene for running a red light.
