Busch optimistic about tech chief

September 28, 2008|From the Associated Press

Former Cup champion Kurt Busch isn't having a very good season, but he is feeling pretty upbeat about preparations for 2009.

A big part of the reason for that optimism is Tom German, Team Penske's technical director and Ryan Briscoe's IndyCar race engineer, who recently moved to the NASCAR operations side.

"German has already shown that he can get things done.

"At Loudon (two weeks ago), I'd just said in passing that I wished we had a DVD of practice to review," Busch said. "I never thought anything else about it. We arrived at the track at Dover last Friday and he had a new DVD recording system up and running in our team transporter to review everything with. The guy is on the ball like crazy and we really appreciate that ...."
