Firm gives unused property a layer of protection

Fast Wrap is putting film around furniture, boats and even buildings to keep them safe until the economy rebounds.

What to do with America's sea of unoccupied homes and unfinished construction projects? Is there a way to keep the weather and vandals at bay until housing turns around? You might shrink-wrap them.

It's being done. Fast Wrap, a Reno company, wraps furniture, cars and dry-docked boats in a thick, protective film to protect them from the elements.

Now it does buildings too, and says it's looking to expand into the foreclosure market, particularly in hard-hit areas where banks can't keep up their seized assets and squatters are moving in.
