August 26, 2009|Times Wire Reports

General Motors Co. will stop putting its "Mark of Excellence" logo on vehicles as it places greater emphasis on individual brands.

It plans to phase out the GM logo on its cars and trucks, leaving just the GMC, Chevrolet, Cadillac and Buick logos on vehicles. GM found that consumers had a greater affinity for its individual brands than for the corporate name.
