Her letter attracted the attention of curmudgeonly editor Francis Church (voice of Alfred Molina), who responded with one of the most famous holiday columns of all time, as recalled in this his new animated special. Featuring the voices of Neil Patrick Harris and Jennifer Love Hewitt (8 p.m. CBS).


Ghost Town: Ricky Gervais has a good showcase for his humor in this 2008 comedy-fantasy, which puts some spins on the concept of a person who can see ghosts (6:15 p.m. Cinemax).

A World Apart: Barbara Hershey won acting honors at the Cannes Film Festival for her powerful performance in this fact-based, politically charged 1988 drama about a South African journalist who finds her family being torn apart by her country's policy of apartheid after her communist husband (Jeroen Krabbe) is forced to flee Johannesburg to evade arrest. Jodhi May and Nadine Chalmers also star (7 p.m. TCM).

Prancer: This 1989 fantasy tells the story of a little girl (Rebecca Harrell) who is certain that the injured reindeer she found is one of Santa's. Sam Elliott and Cloris Leachman also star (8 p.m. AMC).

Brokeback Mountain: Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal starred in one of 2005's most-discussed and most-honored films, adapted from an Annie Proulx short story, that details the exceptionally close relationship between two cowboys in 1960s Wyoming (8 p.m. Bravo).

Obsessed: A happily married executive (Idris Elba) becomes the object of affection from a temp worker (Beyoncé Knowles) in this 2009 drama (8:10 p.m. Starz).
