Working vacation

For more information on WWOOFing worldwide, visit www.wwoof or www.wwoof.org.

To join WWOOF Australia, buy the WWOOF Australia book ($60). This is your membership. Visit www.wwoof.com.au.

If you're interested in harvesting a particular crop, be sure to check harvest dates. Remember that some farms don't accept WWOOFers in the winter. Make sure to contact the host directly before showing up.

Although there are no explicit physical requirements, participants should be able to work outdoors for five to six hours a day. It's best if you have a genuine interest in learning about organic farming. Remember not to carry soiled gardening gloves, boots and other tools when traveling internationally.

Some countries require visas. For information, see www.travel.state, and click on "visas." It's also a good idea to check with the embassy of your destination country. If you do need a visa, you'll have to adhere to specific arrival and departure dates.
