AT NEW YORK

Time: 4:30 PST.

On the air: TV: Channel 9; Radio: 570; 1330.

Where: Madison Square Garden.

Records: Lakers 37-9; Knicks 21-25.

Record vs. Knicks: 1-0.

Update: Despite their record, the Knicks are only half a game out of eighth place in the Eastern Conference. They have won eight of their last 11, including back-to-back home victories against Houston and Atlanta. In his first season with the Knicks, Coach Mike D'Antoni has brought a push-the-tempo mind-set with plenty of offense (104.1 points a game, fifth in the league) but not a lot of defense (giving up 106.1 points a game, 27th in the league).
