Army rescues 8 abductees

February 05, 2009|Times Wire Reports

The Mexican army said soldiers rescued eight kidnapping victims at a ranch near the border city of Tijuana after a shootout that left one kidnapper dead.

An army statement said the raid on the ranch between Tijuana and Tecate came after an escaped captive told authorities that more people were being held.

The statement didn't say whether anyone was arrested.
