Arson fire burns expensive home

February 23, 2009|Howard Blume

A second arson fire in six weeks in an upscale neighborhood gutted a million-dollar home and displaced a family of five early Saturday.

Auto parts supplier Robert Ho, 51, whose house was damaged, said he had chased hooded arsonists away from his neighbor's home last month.

The fires took place in the 3200 block of Hampton Drive, a hillside cul-de-sac with expansive views of the snow-covered San Gabriel Mountains.

Ho said he later received a gasoline-soaked letter with the message: "You are next."

Randy Isaman, an assistant chief with the West Covina Fire Department, said investigators found incendiary devices inside and outside Ho's home.
