Long Beach State gains share of first place

49ers tie Cal State Northridge for the Big West lead with a 75-74 victory over UC Irvine.

at Long Beach State 75, UC Irvine 74: Stephan Gilling made seven three-pointers and had 23 points to lead the 49ers (14-12, 9-4 Big West Conference) to a win over the Anteaters (10-18, 6-8), moving them into a tie for first place with Cal State Northridge.

at UC Riverside 63, Cal State Fullerton 60: Freshman walk-on David Chavarria made two key free throws to help the Highlanders (16-10, 7-6 Big West) defeat the Titans (13-15, 7-8). Kyle Austin led UC Riverside with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

at Loyola Marymount 61, San Francisco 57: Jarred DuBois scored 17 points to lead the Lions (3-26, 2-11 West Coast Conference) past the Dons (10-18, 2-11). Loyola led by 14 points in the first half before San Francisco cut the deficit to 35-28 at halftime.

St. Mary's 62, at Pepperdine 49: The Waves (8-21, 5-8 WCC) missed 15 of their first 18 shots in a loss to the Gaels (23-5, 8-5). Mychel Thompson led Pepperdine with 15 points. Diamon Simpson had 13 points and 14 rebounds for St. Mary's.
