July 10, 2009

Local stations KNBC and KTTV tallied 16 nominations apiece to lead all entrants in the 61st Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards, announced this week by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

CBS's duopoly, KCBS/KCAL, came in second with 13 nominations, while KCET was fourth with 10. Meanwhile, FSN Prime Ticket, KTLA and public access channel L.A. Cityview 35 all tied with seven nominations.

The Tournament of Roses, which is celebrating its 120th year, will also receive the Los Angeles Area Governors Award based on its more than six decades of broadcasting achievements.

The parade's broadcast partners have received 11 L.A. Area Emmys in the past.

The winners will be announced at a presentation Aug. 29 at the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood.
