Angels / Week Ahead

July 26, 2009|Bill Shaikin

Monday through Wednesday: Indians at Angel Stadium

Friday through Aug. 2: Twins at Minneapolis

The Angels make their last visit to the Metrodome, the home of two of the loudest World Series in history and one of the oddest no-hitters in history, on Sept. 11, 1999. Joe Maddon, the Angels' interim manager, fielded a B lineup for the day game and did not use Garret Anderson, Darin Erstad, Tim Salmon or Mo Vaughn, even as a pinch-hitter in the final innings of what turned out to be a no-hitter by Eric Milton, then with the Twins and now with the Dodgers. The Angels' batting order that day: Jeff DaVanon, rf; Orlando Palmeiro, cf; Todd Greene, lf; Troy Glaus, 3b; Steve Decker, dh; Matt Luke, 1b; Bret Hemphill, c; Trent Durrington, 2b; Andy Sheets, ss.
