Eight killed in car bombing

March 08, 2009|Times Wire Reports

A bomb-rigged car exploded in northwest Pakistan as police tried to pull a body from it, authorities said, killing eight people amid growing international concern over the nuclear-armed country's stability.

Pakistani officials also were investigating reports that a U.S. drone aircraft crashed elsewhere in the region. Drones often launch missile strikes against militant targets in Pakistan and are believed to be operated by the CIA.
