Agents from the U.S. Border Patrol seized 27 pounds of cocaine during a vehicle stop on the 15 Freeway in Temecula, authorities said Wednesday.

Agents were patrolling the interstate near a Border Patrol checkpoint about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday when they stopped a northbound Toyota Corolla.

With the aid of a drug-sniffing dog, agents found 10 bundles of the drug inside the dashboard, the agency said. The cocaine has a street value of more than $270,000 and was turned over to the federal Drug Enforcement Administration. The driver, a 30-year-old woman and U.S. citizen, was arrested on suspicion of cocaine smuggling, the Border Patrol said.
