Shanghai Barbie's sales target cut

November 19, 2009|Times Wire Reports

Mattel Inc. lowered the sales target for its Barbie store in Shanghai by at least 30% after deciding the original marketing concept didn't work.

Mattel's new overall sales target for the store is between 65% and 70% of original expectations, said store general manager Dann Murphy.

The six-story store and restaurant has started meeting its targets on product sales, including dolls and toys, after the targets were downgraded twice, he added.
