Good college football coaches win lots of football games. Great college football coaches also teach character, class, and don't allow "'knucklehead" antics (and costly penalties) for unsportsmanlike play.

Pete Carroll is a good college football coach.

Let's see, Jimmy Clausen says his receiver slipped on the turf and was unable to recover to catch his last-second pass in the end zone. Hmmmm, maybe Notre Dame should finally cut the grass.

Coach Charlie Weis' only "signature" victory at Notre Dame remains the day he duped the university into putting his signature on a 10-year contract after losing to USC in 2005. Not since Marcia Clark has anyone done such an amazing job of building their career based on one loss.
