West: No. 19 Utah defeats Air Force

Utes need overtime but come away with a 23-16 win.

Kellen Moore passed for 223 yards and five touchdown passes to lead No. 4 Boise State (7-0 overall, 2-0 Western Athletic Conference) to a 54-9 victory over host Hawaii (2-5, 0-4) on Saturday. Three of Moore's touchdown passes were caught by Titus Young, who had eight catches for 115 yards.

In other WAC games: Diondre Borel passed for 188 yards and a touchdown and Chris Ulinski kicked three field goals to lead Utah State (2-5, 1-2) to a 23-21 win over visiting Louisiana Tech (3-4, 2-2). . . . Colin Kaepernick ran for four touchdowns and threw for two others and host Nevada (4-3, 3-0) finished with 484 rushing yards in a 70-45 victory over Idaho (6-2, 3-1). . . . Ryan Mathews rushed for 157 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead Fresno State (4-3, 3-1) to a 34-3 victory over host New Mexico State (3-5, 1-3).

In Mountain West games: Stevenson Sylvester stuffed Connor Dietz on a fourth-down quarterback keeper to help No. 19 Utah (7-1, 4-0) to a 23-16 overtime victory over visiting Air Force (4-5, 3-3). . . . Ryan Lindley threw a career-best six touchdown passes and DeMarco Sampson hauled in 15 catches for 257 yards, helping San Diego State (3-4, 1-2) rally for a 42-28 win over host Colorado State (3-5, 0-4). . . . Omar Clayton had 204 yards passing and two touchdowns to lead Nevada Las Vegas (3-5, 1-3) to a 34-17 win over host New Mexico (0-7, 0-3).

In games involving Southland teams: Ryan Taylor scored on a blocked punt and Kenny Jackson scored on a fumble return during a 21-point third quarter to lead Cal Poly SLO (4-3) to a 44-14 win over visiting Dixie State (4-5). . . . Dan Selway threw six touchdown passes to lead Redlands (5-1, 3-1) to a 53-27 win over host Claremont-Mudd (3-3, 1-3) in a SCIAC game. . . . Jordan Inabnit's 36-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter was the difference as Occidental (5-1, 3-0) scored a 14-13 win over host La Verne (0-6, 0-4) in a SCIAC game. . . . Jacob Caron passed for 295 yards to lead Pomona-Pitzer (4-2, 2-1) to a 15-7 win over host Whittier (2-4, 0-3) in a SCIAC game.
