at Alabama Birmingham 44, Rice 24: Joe Webb rushed for two touchdowns and threw for two more to lead the Blazers over the Owls in a Conference USA game.

Army 27, at Eastern Michigan 14: Kingsley Ehie ran for two touchdowns and Black Knights Coach Rich Ellerson became the first Army coach to win his first game in 18 years.

at East Carolina 29, Appalachian State 24: Brandon Jackson and Dominique Lindsay each had first-half touchdown runs to help the Pirates build a big lead and then hold off a late rally.

at Marshall 31, Southern Illinois 28: Brian Anderson threw for 316 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Thundering Herd over the Salukis. Chuck Walker had 119 yards in 10 catches.

at Houston 55, Northwestern State 7: Case Keenum completed 23 of his 30 passes for 359 yards and also ran for a score.

at Southern Mississippi 52, Alcorn State 0: Austin Davis threw for three touchdowns and ran for another score.
