Big Ten: No. 7 Penn State stops Syracuse, 28-7

at No. 7 Penn State 28, Syracuse 7: Evan Royster ran for a touchdown and caught another, and the Nittany Lions (2-0) contained quarterback Greg Paulus. Paulus finished 14 of 20 for 105 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions for the Orange (0-2).

Central Michigan 29, at Michigan State 27: Andrew Aguila, handed a second chance to make the winning field goal after a penalty, kicked a 42-yarder with three seconds left to give the Chippewas (1-1) a stunning win over the Spartans (1-1).

at Minnesota 20, Air Force 13: Nate Triplett christened Minnesota's new stadium with a career-high 17 tackles and a 52-yard fumble return for a score to carry the Gophers (2-0) over the Falcons (1-1).

at Illinois 45, Illinois State 17: Backup quarterback Eddie McGee replaced an injured Juice Williams (right quadriceps) and led the Illini (1-1) over the Redbirds (0-2).

at Indiana 23, Western Michigan 19: Demetrius McCray had a career-high 134 yards rushing and the Hoosiers (2-0) forced a late turnover to hang on against the Broncos (0-2).

at Northwestern 27, Eastern Michigan 24: Stefan Demos kicked a 49-yard field goal in the closing seconds, and the Wildcats (2-0) beat the Eagles (0-2).
