ACC: North Carolina off to a 3-0 start

at No. 24 North Carolina 31, East Carolina 17: T.J. Yates threw for two touchdowns for the Tar Heels, who are off to their first 3-0 start since winning the first eight games in 1997. The Pirates (1-2) had only 247 yards of offense.

at Clemson 25, Boston College 7: C.J. Spiller had a 77-yard punt return for a touchdown for the Tigers (2-1, 1-1) and Clemson's defense bottled up the Eagles (2-1, 1-1) in a game that took nearly five hours to finish because of two rain delays. Middle Tennessee State 32, at Maryland 31: Alan Gendreau made a 19-yard field goal as time expired and the Blue Raiders (2-1) stunned the turnover-prone Terrapins (1-2). Dwight Dasher completed 27 of 44 passes for 324 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a score for Middle Tennessee State.

at Southern Mississippi 37, Virginia 34: Tory Harrison's 57-yard touchdown run capped a Southern Mississippi rally as the Golden Eagles (3-0) handed the Cavaliers their third consecutive loss.

at North Carolina State 45, Gardner Webb 14: Russell Wilson had four touchdown passes for the second straight week for the Wolfpack (2-1). Gardner Webb is 2-1.

at Wake Forest 35, Elon 7: Riley Skinner threw for a career-high 289 yards and three touchdowns in the first meeting in 70 years between the neighboring schools, who both are 2-1.
