at Kansas City 12, Boston 9: Mike Jacobs hit a three-run home run and Alberto Callaspo's two-run double keyed the Royals' six-run sixth inning, the most runs they scored in one inning since Sept. 24, 2008.

Texas 10, at Oakland 3: David Murphy had three hits and drove in two runs and Kevin Millwood (11-10) did not give up an earned run in seven innings for the Rangers. Millwood completed enough innings to guarantee himself a $12-million contract next season.

at Toronto 9, Baltimore 2: Lyle Overbay and John McDonald each hit a home run and David Purcey (1-2) earned his first victory since pitching eight shutout innings Sept. 7, 2008, against Tampa Bay.

at Angels 5, New York 2: Joe Saunders pitched into the ninth inning, Kendry Morales had a pinch-hit home run and the Angels reached 90 victories for the seventh time in nine seasons .
