Dig this: It's Truffle Festival time in Napa Valley

Truffle fans and other foodies rejoice: Napa Valley will celebrate the high-end edible mushroom Friday through Sunday with the region's inaugural Napa Truffle Festival, which will offer a gathering of leading truffle cultivation scientists along with Michelin-star chefs and other culinary experts.

Not surprisingly, tickets can be pricey. The luxury food item, which can cost hundreds of dollars per ounce, will be featured at a six-course dinner on Saturday that costs $330 per person.  However, truffle fans with thinner wallets can attend other parts of the festival for as little as $15.

Sponsored by the American Truffle Co.  and Lexus, the festival will be held at the Westin Verasa Napa hotel and will focus primarily on black truffles, which will be discussed, examined, probed, prepared, demonstrated and finally paired with wines and eaten.

Events include organized dinners at Napa restaurants, cultivation and culinary seminars, cooking classes, a truffle orchard excursion, the "13-Michelin Star Truffle Dinner"and a Champagne truffle brunch, followed by an epicurean marketplace.

Tickets range from $15 to $925. The low-end $15 ticket allows access to a sample-and-shop marketplace. At the high end, ticketholders receive a three-day pass that includes all events, including the six-course Michelin dinner. The dinner will include cuisine prepared by chefs Josiah Citrin, Ken Frank, David Kinch, Gabriel Kreuther, Nancy Oakes, and Sylvain Portay.
