Mike Tyson won't face charges over scuffle at LAX

The Los Angeles city attorney's office won't press charges against the boxer or a photographer in a Nov. 11 altercation.

The city attorney's office has decided not to charge former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson or a photographer in connection with a scuffle at Los Angeles International Airport.

After the Nov. 11 incident, Tyson said photographer Tony Echeverria struck him in an apparent attempt to provoke him; Echeverria accused Tyson of punching him in the face and trying to take the film from his camera.

Both men were arrested. Tyson was booked on suspicion of battery and released on his own recognizance.

"We took a look at the evidence and concluded that there was insufficient evidence that either party was at fault beyond a reasonable doubt," said Frank Mateljan, a spokesman for the city attorney's office. "It didn't rise to the level of filing a charge."
