Sparks fall to Liberty, 88-79

New York — Cappie Pondexter poured in 20 points to lead the New York Liberty over the Sparks, 88-79, at Madison Square Garden.

Janel McCarville added 15 points for the Liberty, who have won two in a row and six of eight overall. Taj McWilliams-Franklin had 14 points and nine rebounds for the victors.

Tina Thompson finished with 18 points for the Sparks, who saw a two-game winning streak come to an end. Marie Ferdinand-Harris added 17 points in defeat.
