Happening Tuesday: Midnight Juggernauts , Vincent Gallo and more

Kevin Nealon, Midnight Juggernauts and Diamond Rings, RRIICCEE and Antonio Damasio

November 23, 2010

COMEDY

New Material with Kevin Nealon As the hapless stoner and former City Councilman Doug Wilson on Showtime's "Weeds," Nealon can be counted on for laughs. In his weekly show at Laugh Factory Hollywood, he coaxes the humor out of the real-life affairs of his guest comedians, who really do have to be up for anything. Laugh Factory, 8001 Sunset Blvd., Hollywood. 8 p.m. $20. http://www.laughfactory.com.

POP MUSIC

Midnight Juggernauts / Diamond Rings The Australian synth-rockers Midnight Juggernauts have a Bowie-wide vision for their epic disco on "The Crystal Axis," their second album. But come early for the blissy, cracked club pop of openers Diamond Rings. Echoplex, 1154 Glendale Blvd. The Echo, Los Angeles. 9 p.m. $10. (213) 413-8200.

RRIICCEE We've long expected Vincent Gallo to do nothing but show us time and time again that he will not be tethered to reality. And so it comes as no surprise that his latest venture is an experimental improvisational band with conspirator Erik Erlandson, formerly of Hole, as well as bassist Rebecca Casabian and drummer Nikolas (brother of Lucas) Haas. El Rey, 5515 Wilshire Blvd. 8 p.m. $22. http://www.theelrey.com.

BOOKS

Antonio Damasio Damasio is a neuroscientist who, over many books, unpacks the science behind some of our most fundamental, basic and yet cryptic tasks — decision-making, the sources of emotion and others. His latest work is "Self Comes to Mind" and he'll discuss it here. Hammer Museum, 10899 Wilshire Blvd., L.A. 7 p.m. Free. http://www.ucla.edu.
