Florida Marlins ace Josh Johnson has right shoulder inflammation and a strained mid-back, making it unclear when he will return to the mound.
Johnson was examined Wednesday in Florida. There was no structural damage found and he will rejoin the Marlins on Friday for a series in Washington, but the team has not decided when he might pitch again.
Hughes won't pitch
New York Yankees Manager Joe Girardi said that Phil Hughes will not pitch Sunday against the Texas Rangers because the right-hander is approaching his innings limitation, believed to be around 175.
Girardi said Dustin Moseley will replace Hughes.
Davidson explains ejection
Veteran umpire Bob Davidson said that he ejected a spectator at Milwaukee's Miller Park on Tuesday night because the man used a homophobic slur aimed at St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina.
Davidson said he threw out the man in the bottom of the seventh inning because he wanted to make sure Molina wouldn't do something to escalate the situation.
The spectator was cited for disorderly conduct by police. In Milwaukee, that typically draws a $185 fine.
In the second inning of Tuesday's game, Brewers Manager Ken Macha was thrown out by second base umpire Tim Timmons, Cardinals pitching coach Dave Duncan was ejected by Davidson in the third inning and Brewers center fielder Chris Dickerson was tossed by Davidson in the fifth inning.
