Florida sentences 'Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure' author to two years' probation

The author of the controversial e-book "The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure," Phillip R. Greaves II, has been sentenced to two years' probation in a Florida court. Greaves' book caused a stir when it was spotted online in November 2010.

The Associated Press reports that Greaves pleaded no contest to "distributing obscene material depicting minors engaged in harmful conduct" in a deal with Polk County, Fla., prosecutors. Greaves, who will serve his probation in his home state of Colorado, was prosecuted in Florida after deputies there purchased a copy of the book.

"The Pedophile's Guide" was self-published by Greaves, whose description of the book in its Amazon listing included misspellings:

This is my attempt to make pedophile situations safer for those juveniles that find themselves involved in them, by establishing certian rules for these adults to follow. I hope to achieve this by appealing to the better nature of pedosexuals, with hope that their doing so will result in less hatred and perhaps liter sentences should they ever be caught.

After the e-book listing was spotted and publicized by Techcrunch, the book's sales ranking rose dramatically, from 158,221 in the Kindle store to 5,668 in just two hours.
