For the record

April 09, 2011

W.S. Merwin: An article in the Aug. 29 Calendar section about W.S. Merwin, the U.S. poet laureate, referred to his wife as Paula Schwartz. Schwartz was her name from a previous marriage; she has long used the name Paula Merwin. In addition, the poet's French house in Lacam-d'Ourcet is not in the Pyrenees but is in the region known as Midi-Pyrenees.

Kronos Quartet: A review of the Kronos Quartet in the April 8 Calendar section identified the singer heard in "Harp and Altar" as Jeffrey Kahane. It was his son, Gabriel Kahane.

Wisconsin recalls: In the April 4 LATExtra section, an article about efforts to recall lawmakers in Wisconsin misspelled the name of a town. It is Viroqua, not Veroqua.

Baseball in 2011: The On Baseball column in the March 27 Sports section, previewing the major league season by the numbers, said three players from the Angels' 2002 World Series championship team were still active major leaguers. In addition to Francisco Rodriguez of the New York Mets and Chone Figgins and Adam Kennedy of the Seattle Mariners, John Lackey is a member of the Boston Red Sox and Jose Molina is with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Royal wedding celebrations: A correction on April 7 of a photo caption in the April 4 Travel section incorrectly identified a hotel serving afternoon tea as the Fairmont Princess. It is the Fairmont Empress in Victoria, Canada. The original correction clarified the difference between afternoon tea, which usually features pastries, and high tea, which refers to a more substantial spread.
