Happening Friday

Prince, Lil' Wayne, Mumford & Sons, Topanga Earth Day

April 22, 2011

MUSIC

Prince This month, Prince phoned in to "Lopez Tonight" to announce that he would be taking over the Forum for a 21-night residency that would begin April 14 — certainly causing a panic for fans who had already committed to Coachella. Prince previously played successful residencies in the New York area in December and January, which received tremendous acclaim each night. The Forum, 3900 W. Manchester Blvd., Inglewood. Fri. and various dates. $25-$205. http://www.ticketmaster.com

Lil' Wayne He may not be the first rapper to boast of wanting to literally eat his rivals, but in 2008 Wayne was the top chef in rap's kitchen. "Tha Carter III" was practically the only good news from the business of selling CDs that year, and his claim to the genre's throne seemed inevitable. Now after a stint in prison and a venture into rap-rock with "Rebirth," Wayne is back with a tour humbly dubbed "I'm Still Music." Staples Center, 1111 S. Figueroa St., Downtown. $59.75-$225.75. 7 p.m. Fri; and 7 p.m. Sat., Anaheim Honda Center. http://www.ticketmaster.com.

Mumford & Sons After a blistering, career-bolstering Coachella set, the English folk-rock quartet brings its tight harmonies and harrowing lyrics on this whistle-stop tour with the sonically like-minded hippies in Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes and rustic vets Old Crow Medicine Show. Ports O' Call Village, 76 Berth, San Pedro. 5 p.m. Fri. Sold out. http://www.railroadrevivaltour.com.
