Chivas USA today

AT SAN JOSE

When: 1 p.m.

Where: Buck Shaw Stadium, Santa Clara.

On the air: TV: TeleFutura; Radio: 690.

Records: Chivas USA 0-2-3; Earthquakes 1-2-2.

Record vs. Earthquakes (2010): 1-1.

Update: Having passed on the opportunity this week to acquire U.S. national team midfielder Benny Feilhaber, who went instead to the New England Revolution, Chivas USA sets about trying to extend its three-game unbeaten streak while also trying to find a way to score some goals. Chivas, which skipped Feilhaber in order to save salary cap room and land a forward in the summer, has not scored a goal in 268 consecutive minutes and has scored only once in the last 450 minutes, including a U.S. Open Cup game. "In every game that we've played this year, we've had stretches of possession and we've dominated at times, but we struggle to turn possession into good chances," Chivas USA Coach Robin Fraser said. The Earthquakes have lost once and been tied twice at home this season, so Coach Frank Yallop's side still is looking for its first home win. Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski scored four times in two games against Chivas last season, including a second-half hat trick in San Jose.
