Las Vegas: Airfare from Los Angeles and 3 nights in a hotel for less than $100

Las Vegas fans: If you're fed up with the high price of gas and want a super-cheap alternative to driving, here's a deal that saves time and money. Southwest Vacations is offering a three-night package that starts under $100 per person, including round-trip airfare and a hotel room.

The deal: Southwest Vacations Everything Vegas! package from Los Angeles (LAX) to Las Vegas (LAS) offers discounted room rates, based on double occupancy. The cheapest prices are for Monday and Tuesday departures. Use the code “LAS2011” when booking this package by phone or online.

This deal made Travelzoo’s Top 20 list last week, which means it could sell out quickly. Travelzoo cites sample prices starting at $86 per person, plus tax,  for L.A.-Las Vegas airfare and a room at Circus Circus Las Vegas Hotel & Casino.

When: The offer must be booked by 4 p.m. PDT May 5. Travel is good from May 1 through Sept. 30, based on availability.

Tested: I went to Southwest Vacations online to check availability Monday morning and selected a flight leaving LAX on May 8. I found prices even lower than Travelzoo cited. The package for three nights at Circus Circus, with round-trip airfare, came to $70.27 plus tax ($94.39 with tax and fees) per person. By comparison, when I checked Southwest's pricing for the same flights and dates without the package, it was more than double that price -- $183 plus tax per person.

Note: After I chose my flights and hotel, I found that $75 was subtracted from the total when I checked out, which gave me the final price. One caveat: You might have to pay additional resort fees, depending on which hotel you choose.

I like this deal because you get a good selection of flights and a long window in which to travel. For more money, you can stay at the Stratosphere, Planet Hollywood, the Imperial Palace or other Vegas hotels.
