Mark and Cindy Evans make the rounds of Southern California flea markets early, before most shoppers have gotten out of bed. Their favorite stops:

The Groves Antique Market

Held the first Sunday of the month from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Irvine Valley College, 5500 Irvine Center Drive, Irvine. Admission and parking are free. Dogs allowed. (949) 786-5277.

Pasadena City College Flea Market

Also held on the first Sunday of every month, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Due to a scheduling change, the market happens to be open this Sunday.) Parking lots on eastern side of campus, 1570 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena. Free. Dogs on leash allowed. (626) 585-7906; http://www.pasadena.edu/fleamarket.

Rose Bowl Flea Market

Held the second Sunday of every month. VIP admission runs from 5 to 7 a.m. and costs $20; early admission runs from 7 to 8 a.m. and costs $15; express admission runs from 8 to 9 a.m. and costs $10; regular admission runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and costs $8. Children younger than 12 are free. Note: Some vendors do not set up early. The market remains open until 4:30 p.m. Free parking. Long Beach Outdoor Antique and Collectible Market

Held on the third Sunday of every month. Early admission runs from 5:30 to 6:30 a.m. and costs $10; regular admission runs from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and costs $5. Children younger than 12 are free. Santa Monica Airport Outdoor Antique & Collectible Market

Held twice a month. On the first Sunday of the month, admission runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and costs $5. The Evanses prefer the larger market on the fourth Sunday, when early admission runs from 6 to 8 a.m. and costs $7; regular admission runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and costs $5. Seniors are $3, and kids 16 and younger are free. Free parking. Dogs allowed. Southern side of the Santa Monica Airport, Airport Avenue off Bundy Drive. (323) 933-2511.

Ventura Flea Market

Held five times a year; the next one is scheduled for Jan. 30. Early admission runs from 6 to 9 a.m. and costs $10; regular admission runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and costs $5.
