Update: The last time these teams met was October 2009, and the Ducks were shut out, 3-0. This time, both are fighting for the playoffs. The Ducks are on the edge of being in the top eight in the West. The Rangers are trying to stave off challenges as they battle to stay in the top eight in the East. The Ducks shored up their defense Tuesday, signing 21-year-old Luca Sbisa to a four-year contract extension worth $8.7 million. Forward Jason Blake has sat out two games because of a laceration to his right hand and is day to day. Goalie Jonas Hiller (vertigo) and forward Saku Koivu (groin) are on injured reserve. For New York, goalie Martin Biron (broken collarbone) is out, and Derek Boogaard (shoulder/concussion), Alexander Frolov (knee) and Chris Drury (knee) are on injured reserve.
