May 28, 2011

Movie costume auction: A Quick Takes item in the May 27 Calendar section about Debbie Reynolds' auctioning her collection of Hollywood movie costumes said that the items included Judy Garland's ruby red slippers from "The Wizard of Oz." The slippers are not the shoes seen in the film but rather what Reynolds has described as a "test pair" made for the movie.

Foreclosures: An article in the May 26 Business section about the California attorney general's investigation into foreclosure improprieties said that a key document in the foreclosure process, the notice of default, must be notarized when filed with county recorders' offices. A notice of default does not need to be notarized.

Green Umbrella concert: A review in the May 26 Calendar section of a Green Umbrella concert by the Los Angeles Philharmonic said that Jennifer Koh broke a string on her violin while performing "Four Iconoclastic Episodes." She broke the bridge of her violin.

"The Informant": A review of Thomas Perry's thriller "The Informant" in the May 26 Calendar section described the character Elizabeth Waring as ranking high up in the FBI. In fact, the character is an official with the Department of Justice's Organized Crime and Racketeering Section, not the FBI.
