Edna Tobias took her 22-year-old granddaughter, Adrienne Fletcher of Santa Cruz, to Easter Island early in June to celebrate the completion of her nursing degree.
As they walked among the colossal, stern-faced moai, Tobias quickly snapped this photograph of Adrienne jumping for joy. Tobias was similarly excited to see the monoliths, calling them "awe-inspiring."
The Hermosa Beach resident used a Sony Cyber-shot digital camera.
