Cal State Fullerton defeats Nicholls State, 73-63

In women's play, Nebraska upends No. 23-ranked USC, 68-50.

Cal State Fullerton 73, Nicholls State 63: D.J. Seeley scored 18 points and Omondi Amoke had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Titans (2-0) at Lafayette, La. The Colonels (0-3) got to 63-60 with 4:51 to play, but scored only three points the rest of the way. The difference was at the foul line, where Fullerton made 24 of 35 free throws, to 12 of 21 for Nicholls State.

at Youngstown State 53, UC Riverside 49 (OT): The Penguins (3-0) scored the last seven points in overtime, securing the win at the free-throw line after Highlanders Coach Jim Wooldridge was called for two technical fouls and ejected with 1.4 seconds left. Phil Martin had 16 points and 11 rebounds for Riverside, but he made only six of 21 shots. The Highlanders had a chance to win it at the end of regulation, but Kevin Bradshaw was tied up before he could get a shot off.

at UC Santa Barbara 82, Westmont 61: Orlando Johnson had 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Gauchos (3-0). Jordan Sachs scored 25 points for the Warriors (2-1), an NAIA school that counted this as an exhibition.

Women

at Nebraska 68, No. 23 USC 50: Jessica Hooper scored 16 of her 22 points in the first half and Lindsey Moore scored 15 of her 22 in the second half to help the Cornhuskers (3-0) knock off the Trojans. Briana Gilbreath had 18 points for USC (1-1), which trailed by 13 points at the half and never got closer than six points in the final 20 minutes.
