Gusto makes lunch: Chef Vic Casanova, inspired by what he refers to as “free-range Italian,” debuts his lunch menu. Items include red wine-braised baby octopus, figs with whipped sheep's milk ricotta and saba; crostino with duck liver; various house-made pizzas and pastas; and toasted coconut gelato pie, chocolate fonduta and crepes for dessert. Lunch is Tuesday to Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. 8432 W. 3rd St., West Hollywood, (323) 782-1778.

Thursday night family dinner: Santa Monica cafe and bakery Huckleberry continues its Thursday Night Family Dinner series, offering a three-course menu. On Thursday, it's teaming up with KCRW 89.9 FM and “Good Food” host Evan Kleiman in support of the station’s annual Good Food Pie Contest. Proceeds will benefit the KCRW contest. Chef-owner Zoe Nathan is preparing heirloom tomato crostatas with Drake Family Farms goat cheese and fresh arugula, free-range fried chicken with sweet corn succotash and old-fashioned peach pie with Sweet Rose Creamery vanilla ice cream. $30 per person. Reservations can be made and tickets purchased at www.kcrw.com/huckleberry or by emailing dinnerdate@kcrw.org. 1014 Wilshire Blvd., Santa Monica.

Coffee for charity: In honor of its 6th anniversary, coffee shop Caffe Luxxe is donating 6% of its retail sales at all caffes to the Santa Monica-Malibu Education Foundation (SMMEF.org) in support of public schools. The fundraising will continue until Sunday. Caffe Luxxe has various locations in Santa Monica and Brentwood. 925 Montana Ave., Santa Monica, (310) 394-2222; 11975 San Vicente Blvd., Brentwood; 225 26th St., Brentwood, www.caffeluxxe.com.
